Community and Health Resources for Students and Families
Our Social Worker
My name is Sheryl Power and I have been the School Social Worker at KRHS since 2009. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and graduated from the University of New England in 1999. Prior to working at KRHS, I was a medical social worker for 10 years at a local Visiting Nurse/Hospice program, where I had experience working with people from birth to end of life. School Social Workers are the link between home, school and the community. We provide direct as well as indirect services to students, families and school personnel in order to foster students' academic and social-emotional success. Services include: providing counseling, assisting students and families in accessing and utilizing school and community resources, crisis intervention, and advocacy.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month
We believe students welcome the opportunity to develop skills that will serve them well in the modern workplace. We believe that it is important for students to see how their education will be useful to them and seek to make connections between the academic work and the world beyond the classroom. We believe that national and global awareness, team work, leadership and civic skills are a significant part of a student’s ability to contribute to society. We believe students should be lifelong learners able to collaborate with others, think critically and creatively, and communicate their ideas effectively.
