Core Values and Beliefs about Learning We believe that ACADEMICS should be at the heart of what we do. We value rigor, depth of learning, grit, and creativity in preparing students to be engaged and active learners. We believe that permanent learning occurs when the knowledge and skills are directly relevant to the student's life and goals, and that students learn best when given the opportunity to solve authentic problems. All students should have opportunities to become inquisitive and critical thinkers.
We believe that RESPECT for each individual in our community begins with an understanding that all students have the potential to achieve. Our school values diversity in culture and thought. We believe that each student has something uniquely valuable to offer our school and community. We believe that students should respect themselves and others and have a commitment to their own health and well-being.
We believe that taking RESPONSIBILITY promotes personal growth and development. We believe that all aspects of learning are enriched by a culture of personal integrity and honesty. We also believe that in the 21st Century, the responsible use of technology is a vital tool in teaching students and for students to teach themselves.
We believe that our learning COMMUNITY should offer an equitable and flexible environment that advocates for the self-efficacy of each child. We believe that students must feel safe, both physically and emotionally, in their school and their classrooms. Students should experience equal opportunities to work as a member of a group and become decisive leaders.
